SolidWorksSustainable ConstructionSocial EngineeringBachelor International

Design-to-build of a fully functional Tiny House donated to a homeless person. ICAM Bachelor International capstone. Covered by ICAM.fr and Le Parisien.

Context

4th-year ICAM Bachelor International students were tasked with building a fully functional, durable Tiny House and donating it to a social association. The client was GAF — Groupe Amitié Fraternité — a Toulouse association supporting homeless people.

The project ran for a full academic year, combining structural design, sustainable materials selection, utilities integration, and end-to-end project management.

What Was Built

  • Full design-to-build cycle: structural sketch → SolidWorks hull and frame → material selection → full construction
  • Sustainable construction: eco-materials chosen, lifecycle assessed across the full build
  • Integration of living utilities: insulation, ventilation, minimal electrical system
  • Delivered May 3, 2024 to GAF for immediate use by a homeless individual

Media Coverage

  • ICAM Official Article — Published May 6, 2024 (icam.fr)
  • Le Parisien — article covering the project and delivery

Outcome

The Tiny House was handed over to GAF on May 3, 2024 and immediately occupied. The project received press coverage on both ICAM.fr and Le Parisien, recognizing both the engineering work and the social impact.
